On December 6th, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Miqdad, discussed with the Speaker of the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, strengthening cooperation and coordination between the parliaments of the two countries at the regional and international levels.
During a meeting in Tehran, the two sides stressed the need to develop bilateral relations in all fields, especially economic and trade ones , and ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries.
The two sides also discussed developments on the regional and international arenas.
Minister Miqdad stressed the importance of the role of parliaments in defending the rights of peoples who suffer from occupation, terrorism and economic siege, reviewing the latest field and political developments in Syria.
For his part, Qalibaf stressed the Islamic Shoura Council ( Parliament)’s keenness to develop relations with Syria, provide the required parliamentary support in this regard, and follow up on the implementation of the agreements reached during his recent visit to Syria.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Bashar Al-Jaafari, Syrian Ambassador to Tehran Dr. Shafiq Dioub , Dr. Abdullah Hallaq, Director of the Special Office Department, Dr. TawfiqAbu Ghalloun from the Syrian Embassy in Tehran, and Roa Sharbaji from the Foreign Minister’s Office.
