Ministry of Water Resources: Drinking water sources in Syria are completely safe and secure

Damascus (ST) – The Director of Drinking Water in the Ministry of Water Resources, Engineer Muhammad Al-Hajj, affirmed that all the analyzes carried out by the water institutions in the governorates showed the complete safety of drinking water sources in Syria, conform to specifications and do not contain any pollution.

Al-Hajj said in a statement to SANA that the ministry focuses in its work on not pumping any drop of drinking water without adequate sterilization, and ensuring its safety and validity according to certain specifications.

Al-Hajj pointed out that the registration of a few cases of cholera patients confirms that drinking water is not the reason behind this, because it serves a large number of people. He indicated that the recorded individual cases used water from local sources and not from the main networks.

Al-Hajj indicated that the ministry, since the emergence of the epidemic, has taken a set of measures, one of which is demanding that all water institutions fully comply with the national plan to monitor the quality of drinking water, which is applied annually.
