Today, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), launched the annual national workshop for the Youth Empowerment Program, in the Yafour tourist resort in the countryside of Damascus.
The 5-day workshop includes a presentation on the youth empowerment project and implementation methodology.
The workshop discusses the activities of youth empowerment centers in vocational training, entrepreneurship support, establishing small projects, indicators and goals, designing mechanisms for universal access to the target segments, and assessing skills needs.
Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Louay Al-Munajjid stressed during his speech the importance of the role of youth empowerment centers in light of the economic conditions the country is going through.
He pointed to the need to focus on early recovery programs, livelihoods and participatory work between the government, civil society and the business sector.
For his part, the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program in Syria, Sudipto Mukerji, pointed to the importance of promoting human values by working in addition to skills in order to build persons’ abilities.
He stressed the need to enhance cooperation and coordination between the UNDP and the Ministry to achieve common goals by supporting vulnerable groups in society.
