Ministry of Social Affairs and the WFP discuss the development of social protection systems in Syria
Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Louay Al-Munjid discussed with the Deputy Country Director of the World Food Program Zainab Al-Khudari and the accompanying delegation, topics related to the program’s expertise in the field of supporting social protection programs in the region and the world.
During the meeting held in the Ministry’s building, it was agreed to hold technical meetings between the two parties and accelerate the pace of work to reach real results that leads to the implementation of the program’s plan for the year 2024 in cooperation with the Ministry, through a joint work mechanism whose results will reflect positively on the most vulnerable groups in society.
Al-Munjid assured the importance of activating the cooperation between the Ministry and the Program to reconsider the social protection system. He called for a joint plan to prepare an electronic platform that provides a clear data about the neediest and poorest groups in society, according to a specific standard.
For her part, Al-Khudari gave a detailed presentation of the program’s vision on the mechanism of supporting and developing the social protection systems it adopts, whether through school feeding programs, food support, cash assistance, livelihood support, job opportunities, training and rehabilitation, and food and medicine support in the old age stage.
