Ministry of Interior’s Statement Regarding Events in Jaramana
The Syrian Ministry of Interior said in statement that:
– The Interal security and Defense Forces have heavily deployed around Jaramana in Damascus countryside to prevent any further clashes.
– Clashes erupted in Jaramana after an audio clip insulting Prophet Mohammad was circulated on social media and after gummen gathered to arrest the person who made the insult.
– Two members of the security forces were killed in a shooting on the outskirts of Jaramana in Damascus countryside
– The Security forces intervened to prevent the outbreak of further clashes in the area.
– Groups from within Jaramana killed military personnel this morning and the Security forces intervened to stop the clashes.
– Citizens should not be drawn into sedition; the state is the one that punishes those who commit sins
– The search is underway to find the person who made the audio clip insulting the Prophet, and which caused the sedition.
