DAMASCUS – Information Minister Omran al- Zoubi discussed on Thursday with resident representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Syria Hana Singer relations of cooperation and the need to activate and develop the joint programs for raising awareness about children’s issues.

Al-Zoubi stressed during the meeting with Singer the importance of cooperation and coordination with UNICEF under the current situation, development of a joint work plan that specifies activities and health programs for children and raising the level of social awareness about childhood, especially in light of the crimes committed by Takfiri terrorist organizations against children in Syria and the systematic attacks on health facilities in Syria, according to SANA.

Al-Zoubi expressed the Ministry’s full readiness with all its audio-visual and written media institutions to cooperate with UNICEF, provide necessary supplies and services either on technical and material levels and promotion of various activities and programs of the organization.

In turn, Singer expressed UNICEF interest in enhancing cooperation with the Ministry of Information, pointing out that there are many positive indicators about Syria’s interest in health care in general and children in particular, noting the results of the recent vaccination campaigns organized by the Ministry of Health which achieved remarkable results and was able to reach all targeted children in addition to awareness-raising campaigns on negative phenomena that emerged from the crisis such as recruitment of children, warning of the danger of mines and explosives and early marriage for girls.

Singer called for organizing entertaining activities for children that could contribute to alleviating their suffering, provide psychological support for them and provide people with guidance on how to address the traumas faced by their children due to the crisis.
