The Syrian Ministry of Health on Monday received 5 trucks loaded with medical supplies and medicines, provided by the Emirates Red Crescent.
In a statement to reporters, Minister of Health Hassan Al-Ghabbash said that the aid will be transferred to the governorates affected by the earthquake, as the situation witnessed a transition from the emergency stage to the post-disaster stage.
He expressed thanked the UAE leadership, government and people for supporting the Syrian people after the disaster and providing all forms of humanitarian aid.
Chargé d’Affaires of the UAE Embassy in Damascus Abdul Hakim Al-Nuaimi affirmed the UAE’s support for Syria and its solidarity with the Syrians, noting the establishement of an aid bridge containing relief, humanitarian and medical materials to the Syria people.
For his part, the head of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent Khalid Haboubati referred to the great efforts made by the Emirates Red Crescent and to the importance of the assistance provided, explaining that the UAE’s support is not limited to addressing the earthquake disaster only.
For his part, the Head of the UAE Red Crescent delegation, Mohammed Khamis Al Kaabi, indicated readiness to provide support in the relief, food and health sectors, and to carry out a permanent survey of the growing needs in the affected governorates.
He added that two days ago, 10 Emirati ambulances were handed over to to the Syrian health sector.
Receiving today’s batch of aid was preceded by a meeting at the Ministry of Health, in which the two sides discussed ways of enhancing joint cooperation, the possibility of supporting the health sector in Syria and means of exchanging technical expertise between the two countries.
