Ministry of Health launches an oral vaccination campaign against cholera in a number of governorates
Today, the Ministry of Health launched an oral vaccination campaign against cholera, targeting all ages over the year in the countryside of Aleppo, Hasakah, Raqqa and Deir Ezzor, and it will continue until the 15th of this month.
The campaign is being implemented, according to the Director of Primary Health Care at the Ministry, Dr. Razan Tarabishi, through 63 health centers, 685 mobile teams, and with the participation of 2,269 health workers. The vaccine is safe, approved, and used worldwide successfully and has proven its effectiveness. The people who cannot receive it are pregnant, breastfeeding, and severely ill infected people.
Dr. Tarabishi confirmed that the epidemiological situation of the disease is under control and in a phase of decreasing, and the basis for disease prevention remains the use of water, eating food from a safe source, in addition to adhering to public health behaviors, especially hand washing.
In Aleppo Governorate, the Director of Health, Dr. Ziyad Haj Taha, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the campaign targets 350,000 people, pointing out that the areas targeted by the campaign are As-Safira, Samaan and Azaz. The number of participating health centers is 17, while the number of mobile teams is 50 mobile teams.
Taha called on the families to visit the nearest health center, and vaccinate their children for free in available centers.
