Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Handing over land cleared of mines in Darayya to the competent Syrian authorities

Within the framework of the national efforts exerted to reduce the dangers of mines and other unexploded ordnance left behind by terrorist groups, a ceremony was held today to receive the land cleared by the “Armenian Center for Humanitarian Demining and Expertise” in Darayya, in the countryside of Damascus, in cooperation with the office of the United Nations Mine Action Service. UNMAS. These activities have been supervised by the Syrian National Committee for Mine Action.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement that the cleared lands in Darayya were handed over to the competent Syrian authorities from the Ministries of Defense, Local Administration and Environment, in the presence of representatives of some donor and friendly countries.
The statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs quoted the representative of the concerned Syrian National Committee during the receiving ceremony as saying: The problem of mines, explosive ordnance and explosive devices throughout the country’s areas constitutes a real threat to the lives of citizens, and a reason for obstructing development efforts and the return of the people to their villages and towns.
