DAMASCUS, (st)_ Ministry of Foreign affairs and Expatriates: The USA has informed Syria’s Permanent Ambassador to the UN  that strikes will target Daesh (ISIS) in Raqqa Governorate, Syria.

 Pentagon spokesman Rear Adm John Kirby confirmed the strikes, saying “US military and partner nation forces” were undertaking military action in Syria – but did not give details.

The strikes are being undertaken through a mix of fighter and bomber aircraft and Tomahawk Land Attack missiles, he said.

“Given that these operations are ongoing, we are not in a position to provide additional details at this time,” Kirby noted.
