Ministry of Communications and Technology launches the “SilkLink” project to develop fiber optic infrastructure in Syria

The Ministry of Communications and Technology launches the “SilkLink” project to develop fiber optic infrastructure in Syria and build a regional internet hub.

Minister of Communications Abdul Salam Haykal stated via platform X: “We announce the SilkLink project, which will place Syria on the digital map of the world as a strategic corridor for data movement between Asia and Europe.”

Haykal confirmed that the project represents a qualitative leap in the telecommunications infrastructure through the establishment of a new and extensive fiber optic network.

He said: “We aim to implement it in a PPP model with elite global companies, ensuring the highest quality and the fastest timeline.”

Haykal added that SilkLink is a vision for a digital future that befits Syrians and elevates their capabilities and aspirations.

He stated: “It is a step towards restoring our historical position as a meeting point for the world and a hub for communication and exchange, just as we were along the Silk Road.”
