Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad Al-Shibani and Minister of Defense, Major General Marhaf Abu Qasra met with a UN delegation, led by Ambassador Jean-Pierre Lacroix, Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations, and Major General Patrick Goucha, Acting Head of Mission and Commander of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force.
During the meeting, it was confirmed that Syria is ready to fully cooperate with the United Nations and cover its positions along the border, according to the 1974 mandate, under the condition that Israeli forces withdraw immediately.
For its part, the delegation of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force reaffirmed its full commitment to resolving this issue and restoring stability to the borders and the region.
It also expressed its readiness to provide assistance in demining operations and ensuring the quality of services, as well as coordinating between the authorities and organizations working on removing explosives and war remnants for a safer Syria.
