Minister Seif El-Din discusses with the Regional Director of the International Labor Organization the repercussions of the earthquake
Damascus (ST): The Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Muhammad Seif El-Din, discussed with the Regional Director for the Arab Countries of the International Labor Organization, Ruba Jaradat, the humanitarian response plan of the International Labor Organization after the disaster of the earthquake that struck Syria.
Minister Seif El-Din underlined the importance of activating the work of the Organization in Syria, to provide the necessary and emergency assistance as a result of the humanitarian catastrophe caused by the earthquake, indicating that the ministry is working to provide all possible facilitations and support to achieve tangible results on the ground that benefit the areas affected by the earthquake.
For her part, the regional director of the Organization, explained that the Organization is ready to work with all concerned parties in Syria for emergency response in the affected governorates and to expand the scope of cooperation and organization of work through the establishment of infrastructure projects and securing work for those in need, pointing out that a team of the organization’s engineers will be on the ground to help in studying the aftermath of the earthquake.
President of the Federation of Chambers of Industry and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Damascus Chamber of Industry and its countryside, Muhammad Ghazwan Al-Masry, stated that there are many factories and workers affected by the earthquake and who lost their homes and factories, referring to the importance of carrying out an emergency solution by the Organization as quickly as possible to help them, explaining that the Union presented several proposals during the meeting, including a pre-manufactured house project in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Works and Housing.
