Minister Salem: Working on a significant decrease in the prices of basic materials and availability

The Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, Dr. Amr Salem, confirmed that work is underway to achieve a significant decrease in the prices of basic materials and commodities after two months in the markets, through their availability in abundance and ensuring their continuous flow.
Regarding the amount of direct sugar via the electronic card, Minister Salem, in his response to a question during a press interview held today at Al Wahda Foundation for Press and Publication, pointed out that the amount of direct sugar will be increased from 2 kilograms to 4 kilograms next week, explaining that it is possible to register on the quantity again.
With regard to stopping the sale of oil via the card, Minister Salem stated that the reason for this was the lack of sufficient supplies of the substance, and work was being done to collect sufficient quantities to be put up again.
Minister Salem revealed that there are more types of basic materials that will be added through the card in the halls of the Syrian Trade Corporation, at prices well lower than the market, pointing out that there is a feasible way to provide support to the eligible ones, which is currently being studied by the government.
Minister Salem indicated that work is underway to allocate a number of cars that have shelves to transport the bundles of bread from the bakeries to the accredited distributors in order to ensure that the material reaches the citizens in good quality as well as to the sales centers, including groceries, to which other materials such as water and others will be added, because there is no large financial return from the sale of bread .
Regarding the rise in poultry prices, Minister Salem explained that there is a segment that is the main reason for raising prices, “the owners of slaughterhouses and brokers,” most of them are exploiters and we will not tolerate them at all.
