Minister of Water Resources: Actions to Secure Additional Sources of Water

LATTAKIA, (ST)- The Minister of Water Resources Dr. Kamal al –Sheikha underlined the need to take all measures to avoid wasting water and allow to take advantage of every drop for drinking and irrigation, through the establishment of water projects.

The minister, during a meeting held recently here, asked the managers involved in the General Establishment of Drinking Water and Sanitation in Lattakia to work on plans and studies to secure additional sources of water for the provinces of Lattakia and Tartous to quench thirsty villages due to the availability of water storage in this region.

He pointed out that it was agreed to map out a vision regarding the entire sources of water in order to improve the storage of water, adding that the water situation in Syria is acceptable so far and there are actions to be taken to meet the shortfall in water.

For his part, the Governor of Lattakia Ahmed Sheikh Abdul Qadir said during his tour to Nabi’ al -Sen  area that he was briefed  on the reality of water to address the difficulties and obstacles to secure drinking water for every citizen in the provinces of Lattakia and Tartous.
