Minister of Religious Endowment at Cairo Book Fair: Syrian writers have an exceptional message of enlightenment
Cairo (ST): The Minister of Religious Endowment Dr. Mohammad Abdul-Sattar al-Sayyed visited the Syrian pavilion at the Cairo International Book Fair and met with the owners of publishing houses and Syrian exhibitors, praising the quality of the Syrian book and the scientific and literary message it carries around the world.
In a statement to news reporter in Cairo, Al-Sayyed said that the Syrian book has an exceptional message of enlightenment because it confronts violence, extremism and terrorism, presents the correct image of the tolerant religion and confronts the destructive ideas adopted by terrorist organizations and refutes them with argument and proof.
The Minister stressed that fighting extremist ideology is no less important than fighting armed terrorist organizations. Just as the Syrian Arab Army is fighting in the battle to end terrorism, intellectuals and publishing houses are fighting those who promote this terrorism.
For his part, the head of the Syrian Publishers’ Union, Haitham Hafez, said in a similar statement that the Syrian publisher is facing challenges to deliver his moral and cultural message and to confront the takfiri ideology with argument, noting that the Syrian intellectual and the publisher are complementary in an enlightening message that enlightens the minds.
In turn, the head of the Syrian mission in Cairo, Dr. Bassam Darwish, said that the Syrian participation in the Cairo International Book Fair is an enlightening participation for the country of the first alphabet, noting that despite the unjust years of war against Syria, Syrian publishing houses remain a milestone and provide the Arab reader with the best books.
