Minister of Local Administration and Environment Discusses Cooperation with Swiss Mission in Damascus

Today, the Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Engineer Mohammed Anjarani, met with the Head of the Swiss Mission in Damascus, Marion Weichlt Krobski, to explore ways of bilateral cooperation in local administration and to exchange expertise and knowledge.

 

During the meeting held at the ministry’s headquarters, Minister Anjarani expressed his appreciation for the Swiss government’s assistance to the Syrian people, especially since Switzerland has a pioneering experience in local administration.

 

He emphasized the importance of exchanging expertise and knowledge regarding the transition from central authority to decentralization and activating the role of local councils.

 

Minister Anjarani pointed out that efforts are currently underway to restructure the ministry into organizational regulations that serve the community, in addition to preparing the infrastructure for the return of displaced persons from areas of displacement.

 

For her part, Krubski indicated that the aim of the Swiss mission’s visit to Damascus is to assess the needs of the Syrian government in the field of local administration and to discuss areas of cooperation in the sectors of services, water, and technical institutes, as well as graduating qualified professionals with expertise in governance.
