Minister of Justice Discusses Judicial Reconstruction with EU Mission Team in Syria to Facilitate Citizens’ Affairs

Minister of Justice, Dr. Mazhar Al-Wais, met with a team from the European Union Mission in Syria to discuss the importance of rebuilding the Syrian judicial system to ensure integrity and justice, while adapting to digital transformation to streamline procedures and ease citizens’ affairs.

The meeting, held at the ministry’s headquarters, addressed the major challenges and issues hindering the ministry’s work, which affect the judiciary’s efficiency.

The minister explained that efforts are underway to develop a comprehensive plan to enhance the ministry’s operations, aiming to restore the Syrian judiciary’s standing and overcome the impacts of the previous regime.

This includes focusing on updating the infrastructure of courts and judicial facilities damaged by the former regime’s practices, to provide a suitable working environment for judges and lawyers.

For his part, the Head of the EU Mission to Syria, Michael Anenacht, emphasized the importance of providing support to the Syrian people and working to strengthen mutual coordination based on shared ethics and interests.
