Minister of Information: The media law will soon be discussed in the People’s Assembly and the continuation of suspension of the publishing of printed newspapers due to Corona
On November 8, The Budget and Accounts Committee in the People’s Assembly (Parliament) discussed the investment budget of the Ministry of Information and its affiliated departments.
The Committee’s members praised in their interventions the role of the national media in facing the media war and the disinformation campaigns that accompanied the terrorist war on Syria.
The Committee’s members called for developing media tools to deal with the developments of the current stage and enhancing trust with the citizens by shedding light on service issues that touch their concerns.
The Committee’s members called for supporting media centers in the governorates and expanding training programs for media working staff to improve performance and reissue printed newspapers.
The Committee’s members stressed the importance of re-broadcasting radio and television in areas that have been liberated from terrorism.
The Committee’s members pointed to the need to develop e- media, document the course of the war on Syria and the heroics of the Syrian Arab Army.
Minister Sarah said that the re-issuance of printed newspapers is linked to Corona, especially that regional and global health data indicate the return of a new wave of the virus.
Minister Sarah emphasized the importance of objective criticism in developing work.
He referred to the “Help and support us Be Better” campaign, which the Ministry of Information has launched itself.
He talked about the 22 service programs which highlights the citizens’ concerns and problems with the aim of rebuilding trust between the media and the citizen.
Minister Sarah stated that the ministry is working to improve broadcasting in the areas that have been liberated from terrorism by strengthening the stations, expanding the scope of their transmission and developing the quality of the image as much as possible, in addition to implementing permanent training plans.
Minister Sarah said that about 35 training workshops were held on investigative mediain this year.
“We hope that we will be in the Syrian national media as much as the citizen’s confidence, who has remained legendary,” Minister Sarah concluded.
