Minister of Information, Dr. Boutros Al-Hallaq, confirmed that there are many prospects for media cooperation between Syria and Cuba, which face the same challenges and defend their sovereignty in the face of imperial and colonial projects.
During his meeting today with the Director of the Cuban News Agency Prensa Latina, Luis Enrique Gonzalez, the Minister of Information pointed out the importance of the existing cooperation between the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) and the Cuban News Agency.
He called for more communication to influence public opinion in a way that serves the interests of the two peoples.
In turn, Gonzalez stressed that the Cuban News Agency accompanied the Syrian people throughout the years of war and aggression, and did not stop covering the situation for a single day.
Gonzalez explained that Prensa Latina was created to confront the media campaigns hostile to the Cuban Revolution and in circumstances very similar to what the Syrian people are currently suffering from in the media war.
Gonzalez said: “We consider it very important to spread the truth about what is happening because Syria is in the trenches of defending truth and just causes.”
The meeting was attended by Assistant Minister of Information Ahmed Dawa, Director General of the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), Iyad Wannous, and the Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Damascus, Luis Mariano Fernandez Rodriguez.
