Minister of Industry: The government spares no effort to support industrial sector and develop industrial zones
The Minister of Industry Abdul Qadir Joukhadar affirmed that the government spares no effort to support the industrial sector and secure all supplies and services necessary for its development, support industrial zones to increase production and contribute to the creation of a Syrian industrial product that meets the needs of the local market and competes in quality and price with foreign markets.
In a statement to media outlets during his tour in a number of industrial facilities in Adra and Tal Kurdi industrial areas in the countryside of Damascus, the minister praised the efforts of industrialists to revive their facilities, import and equip them and resume the production process. He noted that all industrial facilities work to achieve integration in production.
Head of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Industry, Ghazwan Al-Masry, stated that the aim of the visit is to be briefed on what the industrialists face in this area, and the impact of the recent decisions related to import and export on the production process and the development of the work of these facilities.
For his part, Vice President of Damascus and Damascus Countryside Chamber of Industry Louay Nahlawi, pointed to the daily problems that industrialists suffer from, related to securing energy and fuel and rising prices as a result of the instability of the exchange rate, which negatively affected the productivity of factories. He indicated that the current focus is to keep factories operating primarily, to preserve the industries, the workers and the facilities and to support exports.
Member of the Board of Directors of Damascus and Damascus Countryside Chamber of Industry Walid Houria referred to the suffering of industrialists from export difficulties due to the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on Syria, calling for the reactivation of exports and the simplification of import financing procedures.
During the meeting of the Minister of Industry with the owners of industrial establishments in Tal Kurdi area, the industrialists demanded completing the process of converting Tal Kurdi into an industrial zone, repairing the public road in Tal Kurdi, activating the clinic in the town of Tal al-Sawan to serve the people of the region, securing an octane station for industrialists similar to other industrial zones, and reactivating export support programs for the local industry.
In response to the demands of the industrialists, the minister pointed out that all proposals and demands of the industrialists are subject to interest and follow-up by the government, and they will be followed up with the Economic Committee to solve them as soon as possible according to the available capabilities, in order to achieve support for the production process, continued employment of the labor force, pumping products into the markets and supporting exports.
