Minister of Higher Education, Secretary General of the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils discuss mechanisms for developing joint cooperation
Damascus (ST): Dr. Bassam Ibrahim, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, discussed with Dr. Abdel Majeed Benamara, Secretary General of the Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils, ways to develop joint cooperation relations in the scientific field.
Minister Ibrahim affirmed the Ministry’s interest in joint Arab cooperation, exchanging experiences among Arab countries and benefiting from their various experiences, pointing to the important role of the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils in supporting and developing effective mechanisms in research work.
He praised the efforts made by Benamarah to enhance fruitful cooperation between Arab countries in the fields of scientific research and technological development, referring to the readiness of the Syrian universities and scientific research centers to deepen the Arab partnership in the field of scientific research of a developmental nature, which is of scientific benefit to society, according to programs developed within the plan of the Union of Scientific Research Councils.
During the meeting, Minister Ibrahim clarified the ministry’s vision and the national strategy for scientific research in Syria, and the efforts made by Syrian researchers to establish scientific research of development feasibility, calling for participation in the Union’s programs.
In turn, Benamara expressed his happiness and pride in visiting Syria, pointing out that many countries attach great importance to scientific research, as it is one of the most important basic pillars for the advancement of their societies in various fields.
Dr. Benamara gave a presentation on the work of the Union of Scientific Research Councils in establishing Arab partnership projects in areas of priority for all Arab countries, such as: water, climate change, environmental protection, renewable energies, artificial intelligence, and the adoption of scientific excellence awards for individuals, institutions, innovators, and entrepreneurs.
