The Minister of Health Hasan Al-Ghabbash on Thursday discussed with the Regional Director of the World Health Organization Ahmed Al-Mandhari ways to support the Syrian health sector’s efforts to respond to the earthquake that struck a number of Syrian governorates at dawn last Monday.
Minister Al-Ghabbash explained the needs of the health sector in Syria and the need to provide it with medical and emergency equipment, which contributes greatly to treating the injured, pointing to the importance of sustaining support because the repercussions will be long-term.
In turn, Dr. Al-Mandhari affirmed the organization’s readiness to provide support in order to overcome the consequences of the earthquake and get out of it with minimal losses.
The meeting was attended by the Director of the Emergency Operations Department in the Regional Office Rick Brennan, the representative of the World Health Organization in Syria Iman Al-Shanqeeti and a number of concerned officials.
