Minister of Health, UNICEF representative discuss ways to enhance cooperation

Damascus, (ST) – The Minister of Health, Dr. Hassan Al-Ghabbash discussed with the representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Syria Yasumasa Kimura and accompanying delegation ways of enhancing cooperation in the health field.

The two sides discussed meeting children’s needs for vaccinations and nutrition programs.

During the meeting, which was held in the Ministry’s building in Damascus, Minister Al-Ghabbash stressed the importance of cooperation with UNICEF, referring to the support it has provided to the health sector to face the challenges posed by the terrorist war on Syria, the spread of the Corona virus and the earthquake disaster.

Al-Ghabbash indicated the importance of coordination with the organization regarding the priorities of the health sector for the next stage, and the need to intensify efforts in this regard in the light of the unjust siege imposed on the Syrian people. He pointed to the Ministry’s keenness to provide health services in various regions, especially the vaccination program.

Kimura pointed to the efforts made by the Syrian government in terms of the support and facilities provided to the work of the organization and the implementation of its programes. He indicated that the organization is committed to the early recovery program in Syria in various fields, including health, in addition to its constant readiness to provide support for everything that develops health services.
