Minister of Finance meets with the Cuban Minister of Health

Minister of Finance, Dr. Kenan Yaghi, head of the Syrian delegation participating in the meetings of the summit of the Group of 77 countries and China, met with Cuban Minister of Public Health Jose Angel Portal.

The two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the health fields.

Minister Yaghi affirmed the real will of the Syrian government to strengthen and consolidate bilateral cooperation with Cuba in all fields, especially in the health, pharmaceutical and various vaccine fields, through the agreements signed between the two parties.

For his part, Minister Portal stressed the importance of the Syrian delegation’s participation in the Havana Summit, expressing his country’s full readiness to push cooperation relations with Syria forward in a way that achieves the mutual benefit of the two friendly countries and peoples, and meets the Syrian medical and pharmaceutical needs, including vaccines produced by Cuba.

The meeting was attended from the Syrian side by the head of the Planning and International Cooperation Commission, Dr. Fadi Salti Al-Khalil, the Syrian ambassador to Havana, Dr. Ghassan Obaid, and the diplomatic attaché Ali Abbas, and from the Cuban side, the director of foreign relations at the Cuban Ministry of Health Nestor Mariano.
