Minister of Economy, German Charge d’Affair discuss ways to Restore Relations between Syria and Germany

Minister of Economy Basel Abd Al-Hannan discussed with the German Charge d’Affair in Damascus Margret Jacob, ways to restore relations between the two countries, to enhance economic cooperation and activate trade exchange.

Minister Abd Al-Hannan affirmed Syria’s commitment to restoring relations with Germany and benefiting from its

expertise, calling for intensifying efforts to lift sanctions on the banking system regarding “financial transfers,” as it is a fundamental factor in economic activity and attracting investments to the country.

The minister welcomed the return of German companies to invest in Syria, especially in the field of alternative energy, highlighting the importance of benefiting from the German experience in the investment system and management.

 

For her part, Jacob revealed that

preparations are underway to open the German Embassy in Damascus soon and that there is a desire to develop relations between the two countries in various fields, particularly economic ones.

 

Jacob indicated that there will be a

forthcoming meeting of the European Union that will discuss easing sanctions on Syria, noting that many German companies are interested in working in Syria ando pening offices in Damascus.
