Minister of Economy discusses with an Omani delegation activating trade and investment cooperation

The meeting held on Thursday by the Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Dr. Muhammad Samer Al-Khalil, with a delegation from the Omani Investment Authority, focused ways to activate economic cooperation between the two countries and prepare the legal frameworks governing this.

Minister Al-Khalil stressed that government efforts are preparing the appropriate ground for developing economic cooperation between the two countries, pointing out that activating real cooperation in the trade and investment aspects lies mainly with the private sector.

Dr. Al-Khalil reviewed the most important opportunities for investment cooperation between the two countries, especially in the agricultural fields and agro-industries.

For his part, head of the Omani delegation, Talal bin Issa Al-Harassi, discussed the results of his meetings with some ministries and government agencies in Syria, within the framework of the visit arrangements prepared by the Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade, with the aim of activating what was agreed upon during the recent meetings of the Syrian-Omani joint governmental committee held in last July.

The two sides also discussed the possibility of benefiting from the experiences of both countries with the aim of supporting their capabilities in realizing complementary agricultural and industrial cooperation that achieves mutual benefit.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade for Economic Development Affairs, the Director General of the Syrian Investment Authority, the Chairman of the Syrian-Omani Business Council and representatives of the Syrian private sector.
