Minister of Culture: We do not exercise any form of guardianship and we want Syria to move along the path of freedom
Minister of Culture Mohammed Yassin Saleh: “The World Knows Well the Heavy Price We Paid for Freedom”
Minister of Culture Mohammed Yassin Saleh said that “the world knows well that the price we paid for freedom was extremely high. Therefore, it is unreasonable for anyone to now dictate to us how we should handle the boundaries of freedom.”
He added, “We are the ones who raised the level of freedom to the highest possible one, and, God willing, this will be the case in all ministries.”
In a press statement reported by Al-Arabi channel, he emphasized, “We do not exercise any form of guardianship over anything. We want all forms of arts and freedoms to flourish, and for Syria to move forward on the path of freedom—the path its people deserve after all the hardships they have endured.”
He also noted that restrictions are still only imposed on those who truly deserve them.
The minister added “We do not want to claim that we will achieve miracles, though the liberation of Syria is itself a kind of miracle.”
He emphasized that the situation requires collective efforts and the need to synchronize Syria’s timing with that of the world in order to move forward alongside it—unlike during the era of the former regime, when Syria was moving backward while the world advanced.
