Minister Martini: Providing more exemptions for reinforcement works in old cities and heritage markets

Damascus,(ST)- Eng. Mohammad Rami Martini,Minister of Tourism and Head of the Services and Infrastructure Committee clarified that the committee discussed a number of qualitative topics, the most important of which was providing more support for restoration and reconstruction projects for historical buildings and heritage markets.

Minister Martini said in a statement following the committee meeting chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Ghazi Al-Jalali: During the meeting, objective discussions took place regarding all means of support based on the directives of President Bashar Al-Assad and the decrees he issued to provide facilities and exemptions for restoration and reconstruction work in old cities and heritage markets in particular.

The Minister of Tourism added that during the meeting, appropriate decisions were taken regarding providing more exemptions, especially with regard to the contract for restoration and support work in the old city and heritage markets, with emphasis on archaeological requirements, as those concerned in the Directorate-General of Antiquities and Museums stressed on the need for more care and attention to these works, especially since the old cities, specifically in the city of Aleppo, and its old historical markets are registered on the world heritage lists.”
