Minister Al-Sheibani: At this critical stage in our nation’s history, we affirm that national unity is the solid foundation for stability
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad Al-Sheibani tweeted “I thank the U.S. Administration for facilitating the visit of the Syrian delegation to Washington and New York. As we also thank the U.S. delegation for their constructive discussions about the future of Syria, where we emphasized the necessity of lifting sanctions completely and allowing the Syrian people to live with dignity and freedom.”
Al-Sheibani added: “We express our gratitude to the United Nations, to the esteemed Secretary-General Mr. Antonio Guterres, and to the President of the General Assembly for their cooperation and positive reception.”
” We also thank the Saudi Arabian mission for their support and cooperation, as well as the State of Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.”
Al-Sheibani pointed out that ” We also appreciate the efforts of the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its team, the support provided by Arab ambassadors and representatives of the European Union as well as the support of the Syrian community in the United States and their sincere national engagement.
He confirmed: “This visit represents an important milestone in Syria’s process to restore its regional and international standing, and it is a clear expression of the will of Syrians to convey their voice and engage positively with the world, based on mutual respect and common interests
“At this critical stage in our nation’s history, we affirm that national unity is the solid foundation for any process of stability or revival, and that rejecting sectarianism, strife, and calls for secession is not only a political choice but a national and societal necessity to protect our diverse social and historical fabric.” He added
Al-Sheibani stressed: “Any call for foreign intervention, under any pretext or banner, leads only to further deterioration and division. The experiences of the region and the world bear witness to the heavy costs that peoples have paid as a result of foreign interventions, which often undermine national interests and serve agendas unrelated to the aspirations of the Syrian people.
He said: “Therefore, those who call for such intervention bear a historical, moral, and political responsibility before the Syrians and history, as the consequences of these calls do not end with immediate destruction but extend for decades of disintegration, weakness, and division.
Al-Shaibani indicated that “We believe that the path to stability passes through dialogue and genuine sharing among all components of the Syrian people, away from impositions, and under the umbrella of complete Syrian sovereignty. No one cares more for Syria than its own people, and no external force can build a strong state without true national popular will.
