Minister Al-Miqdad meets with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus

On November 23rd, Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, met with Alenik Sergey Fyodorovich, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus.

The two sides discussed the latest political developments on the international arena, and a number of issues of cooperation and bilateral consultation between the two countries in various fields.

Minister Al-Miqdad praised the visit of the high-level Belarusian delegation to Damascus, and what this visit represented in boosting bilateral relations between the two countries in a number of fields, especially in the economic field.

He said that such visits reflect the depth of these relations, and the interest of the leaderships of the two countries in strengthening and developing them for the benefit of the two peoples.

He expressed Syria’s appreciation for  Belarusian aid, which contributed to strengthening the steadfastness of the Syrians in the face of the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria, as they are imposed on Belarus and other countries.

In turn, Fyodorovich expressed the great importance that Belarus attaches to its relationship with Syria, and its constant endeavor to develop this relationship in various fields.

He reiterated his country’s supportive position for Syria in the face of the terrorist war imposed on it, and affirmed his country’s support for preserving Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.

He praised Syria’s position in support of Belarus in the face of Western attempts to destabilize the situation there and stressed his country’s continuation in providing humanitarian aid to Syria and advancing economic relations between the two countries in various fields.

During the meeting, the two sides referred to the mutual support between the two countries in international forums, praising the importance of this support and building on it to support the positions of the two countries in the face of Western campaigns that target them.

The meeting was attended by Louay Fallouh, Director of the Europe Department, and Dr. Ihsan Rumman and Yazan al-Hakim from the minister’s office, as well as the Director of the Asia Department at the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
