Minister Al-Khalili: The occupation deliberately targets women and children

Occupied Al-Quds, (ST) – The Palestinian Minister of Women’s Affairs, Mona Al-Khalili affirmed that the Israeli occupation deliberately targets women and children in the  Gaza Strip and the West Bank. She said that women in the Strip suffer from the most dangerous and harsh conditions in decades as a result of the aggression, which led to deteriorating health, and living conditions, displacement and lack of shelter, in addition to the lack of availability of food and water.

Al-Khalili on Sunday clarified in a statement reported by Wafa News Agency that 9,560 Palestinian women have been martyred since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on  Gaza Strip on October 7th, out of a total number of martyrs of 33,175, according to statistics issued by the United Nations Population Fund.

Al-Khalili pointed out that there are approximately 15,000 pregnant women currently in Gaza Strip, 95 percent of who do not eat sufficient amounts of food, which increases the health risks to the mother and fetus.

She added that there are about a million forcibly displaced women who face increasing risks in shelter centers that are lacking basic necessities and privacy amidst separation from family support networks. There are approximately 37 mothers killed every day, leaving behind devastated families and homeless children.

Regarding the West Bank, Al-Khalili indicated that the occupation forces displaced 1,620 Palestinian families, including 710 children, in the West Bank, including Al-Quds (Jerusalem) due to the policy of demolishing homes.
