DAMASCUS-Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Fayssal Mikdad affirmed on Thursday the importance of cooperation between Syria and United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to establish sustainable development in the areas which have been liberated from terrorism, SANA reported.

During a meeting with the new Regional Director of the UNDP David Akopyan, Mikdad expressed Syria’s appreciation of the UNDP’s efforts in the sustainable development field, affirming the need to focus on the development work at this particular time, in which Syria is preparing to rebuild what has been destroyed by the terrorists and the countries and the forces that support them.

Mikdad also stressed on the importance of establishing sustainable development in different sectors of life in the liberated areas, which would encourage the Syrians and help them practice their normal lives in better conditions as well as to support the efforts exerted by the Syrian government in its pursuit of achieving this purpose.

In turn, Akopyan said that the UNDP is ready to contribute to improving the quality of life in the affected areas in addition to contributing to setting development plans in various provinces in Syria, which would meet the goal of development nationwide.
