Mikdad Affirms Syria’s Support for Palestinian People’s Steadfastness in Confrontation of Zionist Aggression
DAMASCUS, (ST)-Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has affirmed Syria’s support for the steadfastness of the Palestinian people in the confrontation of the Zionist continuous aggression.
Mikdad was speaking during a meeting on Tuesday with a delegation representing the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) led by Ahmad Majdalani, member of the PLO Executive Bureau.
He affirmed Syria’s strong condemnation of the heinous Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people, particularly in Gaza and of the recent Israeli settlers’ crime of burning Palestinians alive before the sight of the Zionist officials who didn’t only covered the crime, but also arrested and jailed hundreds of Palestinians and shelled their cities.
The deputy minister expressed Syria’s support for the measures taken by the Palestinian leadership to retaliate against the Zionist aggression, including the call on the United Nations to form an international committee to investigate the Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people.
He also asserted Syria’s denouncement of the Security Council and Arab League’s disregarding of the developments in the occupied Palestinian territories and their inaction towards the Israeli massacres against the unarmed Palestinian people.
“Despite the difficulties Syria has been experiencing, the Palestinian cause will continue to be the compass for the Syrian people to confront the challenges facing Syria and the entire Arab nation,” Mikdad said affirming the need to keep the flow of humanitarian aid to the Palestinians in al-Yarmouk camp in Damascus away from any kind of blackmail by the armed terrorist groups and their supporters.
For his part, Majdalani, who congratulated the Syrian people on the success of the presidential elections in which President Bashar Al-Assad won the trust of the Syrians, said the aggression targeting Syria and Palestine is part of a scheme aiming to humiliate the Arab nation and force it to surrender to the American and Zionist will.
He talked about the dangerous developments in the occupied Palestinian lands and the Israeli genocide and siege against the Palestinians.
Members of the Palestinian delegation voiced their support for the agreement reached in the al-Yarmouk refugee camp to expel the gunmen and help the displaced people return safely to the camp. They hailed the efforts exerted by the Syrian government to make the agreement a success.
