Mikati condemns the Israeli attack on the southern suburb of Beirut

Beirut (ST) – The Lebanese Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati condemned the Israeli attack that targeted the southern suburb in Beirut, causing human casualties and injuries.

The Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) quoted Miakti as saying: “This attack is a new Israeli crime that aims at inevitably dragging Lebanon into a new phase of confrontations, following the daily Israeli assaults on South Lebanon that resulted in a significant number of martyrs and wounded individuals.”

“This explosion undoubtedly aims to implicate Lebanon in the ongoing war in Gaza”, he added.

Mikati appealed to the concerned nations to pressure Israel to halt its attacks, warning that “Israeli” seeks to export its failures in Gaza towards the southern borders to establish new facts and rules of engagement.

“Lebanon remains committed, as always, to relevant international legitimacy, especially Resolution 1701. However, it is Israel that has breached and surpassed it, as it remains unsatisfied with the level of death and destruction”, Mikati said.

On the other hand, The Lebanese resisitance movement “Hezbollah” affirmed that the assassination of Hamas deputy leader Saleh al-Arouri by a drone strike in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, will not pass without punishment.

Hezbollah stated that the assassination in the heart of the southern suburb of Beirut is a dangerous assault on Lebanon, its people, security, sovereignty, and resistance.

Hezbollah stressed that this assassination is a continuation of a series of assassination crimes in another field of action and on new fronts of combat and support.

It noted that the Zionist entity resorts to a policy of assassination and physical liquidation of everyone who supported the Palestinian issue.
