At the sideline of the activities of “Culture in your home” festival , which kicked off on Thursday , a musical evening was presented by Al-Hujra choir(chamber music) in Khan Asaad Basha in old Damascus city.
The musical evening was organized without an audience within the framework of the preventive measures adopted by the Ministry of Culture to prevent the spread of the novel Coronavirus.
The event’s objective was to send a message of love and peace through music to the world and al-Quds(Jerusalem) “ the flower of the cities” .
The musical evening was broadcast live on the official website of the Ministry of Culture and its YouTube channel. It included a film that shows Syrian doctors who died in various countries while treating patients infected with the novel coronavirus.
The orchestra, conducted by maestro Missak Baghboudaria , presented an amazing collection of eastern and western melodies with an impressive professional performance.
“It is important to link music to the place historically and this is why we chose Khan Asaad Basha since it gives a natural echo to the sounds and harmony of the orchestra,” maestro Baghboudaria told SANA.
He stressed the need for music to be always present, especially at a times of crisis because it provides positive energy.
On her part , the opera singer Susan Haddad highlighted that singing in a great historical place like Khan Asaad Basha means a lot to her because it is part of the Syrian civilization. She expressed her happiness with her participation in the musical evening ,during these difficult circumstances, to present music to the Syrian audience via Internet to address messages of love and peace from Damascus to the world that all Syrians love life, peace and hope.
