Damascus, (ST) – The Minister of Water Resources Dr. Kamal al-Sheikh called the Iranian company “Tehran Merab” to start implementing a project of sewage treatment stations in the provinces of Lattakia and Tartous. “
During a meeting with the Director General of Tehran Merab Company Eng. Ali Akbar Houshmand, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Tehran Merab, Ali Reda Hamidi, and members of the accompanying delegation, the Minister underlined the readiness of his ministry to communicate with stakeholders to overcome the difficulties and to address any obstacles facing the implementation of the project.
The Minister noted the importance of the project to reduce the pollution of water sources in the Syrian coast, especially the project is situated in tourist and archaeological area.
For his part, Director of the Iranian Company confirmed that the project is stalled “as a result of conditions experienced by Syria” and starting in implementation is one of the company’s priorities and the company has a desire to take off full operational work as soon as possible.
Mr. Houshmand called for the formation of a technical committee comprising of experts and technicians from both parties to discuss the reality of the project, the course of eventsand the difficulties facing the projectto reach a solution.
