“Memory of a Soul” is an exhibition for artist “Muwaffaq Makhoul reflecting the human being with his sadness
“Mishwar” Gallery of Fine Arts in Damascus is currently hosting the solo exhibition of the prominent artist “Muwaffaq Makhoul” under the title of “Memory of a Soul.”
The exhibition includes 35 paintings of medium sizes executed in acrylic colors, with concentration on the colors yellow and orange in varying degrees within a dark aura. The paintings reflect the human being with his sadness, fear, faith and memory.
Makhoul told Syria times that “the exhibition’s works are a combination of symbolic expressive conditions in a contemporary modern life.
“The paintings reflect different schools including abstraction, realism and classicism”, he added
Makhoul believes that the human being is the major issue, so he portrays him in all his paintings, influenced by some of the art of the eastern icon, to give him sanctity in the midst of warm colors because they reflect love, light and humanity.
“The art belongs to an intellectual and philosophical style whose paintings create a harmonious dialogue to reach the recipient and be able to understand the artwork and its message in the call to protect our memory, which represents our identity and the future of our homeland” he added.
Makhoul continued by saying that, the art is a world in which the real mixes with the imaginary, analogy and abstract representation together and the freedom of the one who frees himself from the preconceived idea or the preconceived subject of the painting.
It is noteworthy that the artist Muwaffaq Makhoul, was born in 1958, graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Damascus. He has many individual and collective exhibitions. He established the Damascus Educational Library, which includes more than 40,000 books and plastic arts centers in the Ministry of Education.
