Deputy Foreign Minister and Expatriates Dr. Faisal Al-Mekdad continued his meetings on the sidelines of the 18th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement, which concluded on October 26 in the Azerbaijani capital Baku.
Mekdad discussed with Mauritanian Foreign Minister Ismail weld Sheikh Ahmed cooperation between the two countries and the mechanism of developing them in various fields including investment and economic relations.
Mekdad expressed his appreciation for the attitudes of the Mauritanian people, which reflect the strong brotherly ties between the two peoples in both countries.
For his part, the Mauritanian Foreign Minister expressed his wishes that Syria will achieve more victories in the war on terrorism.
Mekdad met with Nicaragua’s Foreign Minister Denis Moncada Collins and talked about the conspiracies facing the two countries by the United States and its tools in the Arab region and in Latin America.
Collins expressed his country’s solidarity with the people and leadership of the Syrian Arab Republic and praised the achievements of the Syrian Arab Army in combating terrorism and restoring security and stability to Syria.
Mekdad affirmed Syria’s support for the people of Nicaragua in confronting US attempts to interfere in its internal affairs.
Mekdad met with the Russian Federation’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Vershinin and discussed the preparations for the first meeting of the Constitutional Discussion Committee.
Mekdad met with the Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) Lassina Zerbo and discussed the work of the CTBT.
Mekdad stressed that Israel is responsible for not creating suitable conditions for the countries of the region to join this organization. Israel is not a member in the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and has all weapons of mass destruction.
