Mehmanparast: U.S, West shouldn’t be allowed to interfere in regional issues

TEHRAN, (ST) – America and Western countries should not be allowed to interfere in regional issues, said Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast.

In a press conference in the Turkish city of Erzurum on Saturday, Mehmanparast answered a question on Iran’s reaction to Turkey and NATO interference in Syria saying if the Syrian crisis intensifies and the western countries interfere, the conflicts will not be limited to Syria as the Middle East is in a very sensitive situation.

The spokesman asked how come the US government pretends to support the people of the region while considering military interference in Syria.

Mehmanparast criticized the West’s support for armed terrorist groups in Syria, reiterating that military intervention is not the right choice to settle the crisis in the country.

He told journalists that western countries and armed terrorist groups in Syria oppose free election, because they know that majority of people do not support them in such an election.

Concerning developments in Bahrain, the spokesman said “we support free elections in Bahrain based on equality and justice,” pointing out that elections in this country are not fair which caused protests.
