Media war on Syria based on misinformation and lies: Russian politicians

Two Russian politicians on Friday condemned the western media war that targeted Syria and made false accusations against the country without any evidence.

“Western forces are planning aggressive actions against the independent sovereign Syrian state after making baseless accusations”,  Deputy Chairman of the Committee of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications Anton Gorelkin told  SANA correspondent in Moscow.

The Russian parliamentarian pointed out that “The so-called White Helmets, which is funded and sponsored by the US and its affiliating forces , is the party that fabricated and staged toxic chemical attacks with the aim of accusing the Syrian government” Gorelkin said.

He affirmed the need to unify the Syrian and Russian efforts to confront these aggressive acts.

For his part, member of the Kremlin’s Council for Inter-ethnic Relations Bogdan Bezpalko said that both Syria and Russia have been targeted by a media war, noting the western forces repeated attempts to block the Syrian state media.

Bezpalko added that the international media are unfortunately under the control of Western countries, and they lack objectivity.

He pointed out that the parties that dominate the misleading international media target both Syria and Russia and falsely accuse them of committing crimes with the aim of launching aggression against them.
