Media Office in Gaza: The Israeli occupation’s invasion of Rafah portends a deep humanitarian catastrophe
The media office in Gaza warned that the Israeli occupation’s invasion of the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip threatens a deep humanitarian catastrophe as a result of closing the crossings, preventing the entry of aid and depriving the sick and wounded from traveling for treatment outside the Strip.
The office condemned in a statement today the continuation of the occupation in its aggression on the city and on all the cities of the Strip, calling on all countries of the world to condemn this heinous crime, pointing out at the same time that the occupation prevented during the past two days the introduction of more than 400 aid trucks, food, medical supplies and devices, in addition to preventing the travel of 159 cancer patients and wounded from traveling to receive treatment in hospitals outside the Strip.
The office pointed out that the entire Gaza Strip, under the war of genocide, lives on aid and subsidies, and that the crime of stopping such assistance threatens to cause famine in the coming days for more than 1,700,000 people living in the southern areas of Gaza, given the lack of food and water as a result of the ongoing aggression against the Gaza Strip since October 7.
The office held the American administration, the Israeli occupation and the international community fully responsible for this disaster and the deep humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the catastrophic results of their insistence on deepening the famine in the south of the stricken Strip. It calls on the countries of the world to put pressure on the occupation to stop its aggression on Rafah and the war of genocide and open the crossings immediately and urgently, in addition to opening an independent international investigation into the crimes against humanity committed by the occupation against Palestinian civilians, children and women, starving them and depriving them of treatment, food and water.
For its part, the Gaza Crossings and Borders Authority confirmed in response to U.S. State Department statements regarding the opening of crossings and the introduction of humanitarian assistance to Gaza Strip that the Gaza Strip’s crossings remain closed and under occupation control.
