Media Office in Gaza calls for opening an international investigation into the occupation’s crimes against medical staff

Occupied Al-Quds, (ST) – The Media Office in Gaza called on the international community, human rights and international institutions to open an international investigation into the crimes of detaining and executing Palestinian medical personnel in Gaza Strip by the Israeli occupation, and to refer the criminals to international courts for trial.

The office clarified in a statement yesterday that the occupation has carried out brutal arrest and killed medical personnel in Gaza Strip, the most recent of which was the murder of Dr. Iyad Al-Rantisi, the Head of the maternity department at Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza Strip, after the occupation forces detained him last November and subjected him to all forms of systematic torture in the occupation prisons, including electric shocks, and then executed him.

The office affirmed that this crime was preceded by the execution of Dr. Adnan Al-Barsh, Head of the Orthopedics Department at Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza last month, in addition to the martyrdom of about 499 medical personnel, and the continued detention of 310 others who are being subjected to severe torture in the occupation’s prisons as part of the ongoing genocide war for 256 days in the face of a terrible and unprecedented international silence.

The office held the US administration fully responsible for the lives and safety of medical personnel, whether those still being detained by the occupation or those working in hospitals and various medical centers, calling on the international community to provide legal protection for Palestinian medical personnel and allow them to work freely, and to pressure the occupation to urgently release all doctors, nurses and workers in the Palestinian health sector who have been detained.
