Media and Communications Committee of the People’s Assembly condemns the assassination of the Palestinian journalist, Shireen Abu Akleh

Damascus, (ST) – The Media, Communications and Information Technology Committee of the People’s Assembly condemned the assassination of Palestinian journalist, Shireen Abu Akleh, at the hands of the Israeli occupation forces in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The committee affirmed in a statement read out by People’s Assembly member Alan Bakr during the session held on Wednesday that,” it is a sad day –  a day shrouded in darkness, a day in which a martyr rose from among the martyrs of the truthful word and a hero of resistance.  She is Shireen Abu Akleh, the martyr of the word and the truth”.

The statement added that, “They are sons of Zion and their mercenaries from terrorist organizations, the killers of the prophets and saints, the thugs of the modern era, the hideous face of terrorism.”

The statement went on to say that dozens of male and female journalists gave their lives for the homeland on the beloved land of Syria and Palestine.

The statement concluded with greetings for the pure souls of journalist martyrs.
