Means of enhancing Syrian-Brazilian relations reviewed

Damascus (ST): The head and members of the Syrian-Brazilian Friendship Committee in the People’s Assembly, during their meeting with the Ambassador of Brazil in Damascus, Fabio Vaz Petaluka, stressed the importance and depth of parliamentary relations between the two friendly countries and the need to strengthen and upgrade them in the interest of the two peoples.

 The head and members of the committee explained the necessity of opening the doors of economic, cultural and educational exchange between the two countries, concluding trade agreements and raising the level of trade exchange, stressing the importance of informing the Brazilian Parliament about the state of stability in Syria and the recovery process that is being obstructed by unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on Syria.

For his part, Ambassador Petaluka stressed that the Brazilian-Syrian friendship is historic and renewable, stressing his country’s support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Syria, the independence of the Syrian decision, non-interference in its internal affairs, and his country’s government’s interest in developing economic and trade relations with Syria, indicating that his country continues to provide scholarships to Syrian students and organize joint cultural events.

He expressed  readiness to convey the reality of the economic, living and psychological repercussions that have afflicted the Syrian people as a result of the war and the siege to the Brazilian Parliament.
