Moscow (ST): The Chairperson of the Russian Federation Council Valentina Matvienko affirmed today that Russian society is united in eliminating terrorism in all its manifestations and is ready to uproot this scourge from its land and in any part of the world.
In a statement issued on the occasion of the “Day of Solidarity against Terrorism in Russia”, TASS news agency quoted Matvienko as saying: The law enforcement agencies and security services of Russia are working quickly and rigorously in accordance with international law to eliminate hotbeds of hostile activity inside the country and actively participate in the elimination of emergency cases of terrorism abroad.
Matvienko stressed that “sustainable successes in this field are achieved only through a global front against terrorism,” noting that the coordinated and continuous interaction of all specialized agencies in the world along with resolute measures are the necessary conditions to prevent new tragedies.
The President of the Russian Federation Council stressed that her country faced “the brutality and betrayal of the conspirators and perpetrators of these destructive terrorist acts more than once, as innocent Russians, especially defenseless children, were targets for the crimes of these killers, which in no way can be justified by any personal, ideological or political motives.
On September 3 each year, Russia commemorates the “Day of Solidarity in the Fight against Terrorism” coinciding with the anniversary of the terrorist attacks that targeted a school in the city of Beslan in South Ossetia from September 1-3, 2004, which killed more than 300 people, most of them women and children.
