MOSCOW, (ST): The Speaker of the Russian Federation Council Valentina Matvienko stressed that there are no objective grounds for accusing Russia of hiding aggressive intentions, noting that the subject of the alleged invasion of Ukraine is not substantiated.
“It is not surprising that the topic of the invasion of Ukraine, which the West has been so aggressively promoting in recent days, has no evidence,” Matvienko told the Parlamintskaya Gazeta newspaper.
For his part, Russia’s permanent representative to the European Union, Vladimir Chizhov, denied rumors and allegations about a “Russian invasion of Ukraine” in the coming days.
Chizhov said in an interview with German Welt channel: “When the West makes serious accusations against Russia, it must provide evidence, otherwise these accusations are false and the Western countries must take a serious position on the vital security issues that Moscow refers to,” adding, “If our partners finally listened to our concerns, the process of de-escalation will take place quickly. This will be in the interest of all the peoples of Europe and the world.”
