BEIRUT- For the second day running, the Syrian embassy in Beirut is witnessing a huge turnout of voters who have come to take part in the presidential elections and practice their right and duty in choosing a president for their country.
Yesterday, the embassy, due to the great turn out, extended the time of receiving Syrian voters for another whole day.
Since the early hours of Wednesday morning, the Syrians in Lebanon flocked in thousands towards the Syrian embassy in Beirut to affirm their insistence to practice their constitutional rights and their adherence to the sovereignty, the legitimacy and constitution of their homeland.
The big turnout was a surprise to all who follow up events on the Lebanese arena and who didn’t expect such an active participation in these elections.
Syria’s Ambassador in Beirut Ali Abdul Karim told journalists that he expected the number of voters to hit tens of thousands, adding that “voters who couldn’t cast their ballots on the first day will have the opportunity on June 3rd to vote in border cross points centers.”
