The US Department of Defense (Pentagon) has revealed that vast quantities of military weapons and equipment from the United States and other countries arrived on Thursday in Eastern Europe for transfer into Ukraine, according to a senior U.S. defense official who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
The Washington Post quoted a US defense official as saying that more than 20 flights from 7 countries, carrying weapons and equipment, including artillery and drones, have arrived in eastern Europe with the aim of transferring them to Ukraine.
More than 12 other flights carrying weapons and military equipment will make their way from the United States through Friday and Saturday, the US official added.
The Russian Foreign Ministry has warned that NATO countries are playing with fire by further supplying Ukraine with weapons.
According to the Kremlin spokesman Dimtry Peskov, supplying Ukraine with weapons won’t contribute to the success of the Russian-Ukrainian negotiations and it will have negative impacts.
On Thursday, US President Joe Biden asked the Congress for $33 billion in urgent aid to Ukraine.
Last month also, the US lawmakers authorized $13,6 billion in military assistance to Kiev.
