Mass rally in Homs rejecting and condemning the US sanctions and coercive measures imposed on Syria

HOMS, (ST)- People in the Syrian city of Homs on Thursday organized a mass rally in rejection and condemnation of the American sanctions and coercive measures imposed on Syria.

 Participants in the rally condemned the so-called “Caesar Act” and affirmed their adherence to national principles and their steadfastness in the face of the economic war and unjust blockade imposed on the Syrian people.

The participants, who represented different categories of the society in Homs, lifted the Syrian flag as well as many placards saluting the Syrian Arab Army and condemning the brutal practices of the US aggressor.

Rajab Deeb, an intellectual, said “we are rallying here to voice our solidarity with our army and leadership and to affirm our determination to withstand and defeat the blockade as we did with terrorism.”

Hussein al-Abbar, a wounded Syrian soldier, said that the inhuman US measures target the livelihood and dignity of the Syrian people forgetting that the Syrians have a long history of steadfastness and resistance and they have a deep-rooted history and civilization spanning thousands of years.

Head of the Engineers’ Syndicate in Homs Khalil Jdeed asserted that the unjust economic war waged by a number of Western countries against Syria has been uncovered, pointing out that the so-called “Caesar Act” targets the Syrian people’s livelihood and seeks to squeeze Syria’s economy, yet it will never undermine the Syrians’ dignity.”

Ali Hassan, Director of the General Company for Building and Construction in Homs, said that the Syrian people are adherent to their country’s national principles and that the economic and political pressure of the aggression forces won’t prevent them from rallying behind their leadership and army in Syria’s war on terrorism.
